Beaufort County GOP chairman Greg Dority won the Mecklenburg County GOP State Auditor straw poll this past Thursday evening by garnering 57% of the vote. Dority, a former 12th District Congressional candidate representing parts of Mecklenburg County.

On December 18, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of Animal Cruelty at a home on Big Buck Drive in Chocowinity, NC. Animal Control Officers and Deputies responded to the scene and located a deceased boxer mix canine tied to the back porch area of a home.
